Electromechanical Engineer III, Cables and Harness with Security Clearance

Lockheed Martin seeks an Electromechanical Engineer III with expertise in cables and harness systems to join our Space division in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama. This full-time, on-site position offers the chance to design, develop, and advance critical avionics interconnect solutions for space flight missions alongside experienced engineering leadership.

About the Role

You will design and develop cable and harnessing systems that power next-generation space flight avionics. Working within our Huntsville Space facility, you will take preliminary concepts through 3D modeling, analysis, and qualification phases to deliver flight-ready interconnect assemblies. This role bridges mechanical design, electrical integration, and aerospace certification requirements—making you essential to mission success from the drawing board to deployment. A current or required security clearance is needed to support this classified work.

Your Responsibilities

• Create and refine 3D concept models of cable and harness configurations for avionics systems
• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into manufacturable designs
• Conduct engineering analysis on interconnect performance, routing, and thermal/mechanical constraints
• Support qualification testing and certification processes to achieve flight readiness
• Document designs to aerospace and defense industry standards
• Troubleshoot and resolve design challenges through engineering problem-solving

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Demonstrated experience designing cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, or similar interconnect systems
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and design tools
• Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing, assembly, and quality standards
• Excellent technical communication and teamwork skills
• Current or ability to obtain a security clearance
