Data Scientist II, Device Economics

Join Amazon as a Data Scientist II, Device Economics, a full-time position based in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County. You'll apply quantitative expertise to forecast demand and model economics for some of Amazon's most innovative consumer devices.

About the Role

The Device Economics team drives strategic business decisions through data science and economic analysis. In this position, you'll work at the intersection of economic forecasting, statistical modeling, and product strategy, focusing on Amazon's portfolio of cutting-edge consumer devices including the Echo family. Your analyses will inform critical pre-launch decisions, pricing strategies, and resource allocation across our device business.

What You'll Do

• Develop and refine forecasting models to predict device demand, adoption rates, and market performance
• Conduct economic analyses that evaluate pricing, margin impact, and financial scenarios for new devices
• Build statistical frameworks to support pre-launch business cases and go-to-market strategies
• Partner with product, engineering, and business teams to translate data insights into actionable recommendations
• Design experiments and analyses to measure the economics of device features, bundles, and services
• Create dashboards and visualizations that communicate complex economic findings to leadership

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, economics, computer science, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• 3+ years of professional experience in data science, analytics, or quantitative research
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, SQL, or similar languages
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and validate statistical models and forecasting systems
• Experience with time-series analysis, regression modeling, or other econometric techniques
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex findings to non-technical audiences
• Proven ability to operate independently and drive ambiguous problems to completion
