About the Role
We're seeking an experienced educator to deliver engaging social studies instruction to seventh and eighth grade students during an approved leave period. This is a full-time classroom position where you'll lead lessons, facilitate discussions, and guide students through the study of history, geography, civics, and related social sciences. You'll report to the school administration and collaborate with the existing social studies department to maintain continuity in the curriculum.
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned social studies lessons to middle school students
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages critical thinking and civic engagement
- Assess student understanding through formative and summative assessments
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom expectations
- Supervise students and participate in school duties as assigned
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of instruction and student performance
What We're Looking For
- Valid state teaching certification in social studies or equivalent credentials
- Demonstrated experience teaching middle or high school social studies
- Strong knowledge of history, civics, geography, and social science disciplines
