Senior Plumbing Engineer (Data Center)

Jacobs seeks an experienced Senior Plumbing Engineer (Data Center) to join our Virginia Beach office in a full-time capacity. In this role, you will lead the design, installation, and operation of mission-critical water and plumbing infrastructure that supports modern data center facilities across our U.S. operations.

About the Role

As Senior Plumbing Engineer specializing in data center infrastructure, you will drive the development and execution of plumbing systems that serve cooling, process water, and facility operational needs. You'll partner with mechanical, electrical, and IT engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet the demanding reliability and efficiency standards of hyperscale and enterprise data centers. Your technical leadership and problem-solving expertise will be central to ensuring seamless operations and facility compliance.

What You'll Do

• Design plumbing systems for data center cooling loops, water distribution, chilled water plants, and waste management infrastructure
• Oversee system installation, pressure testing, and commissioning; validate compliance with industry codes and facility specifications
• Diagnose and resolve complex plumbing issues affecting facility uptime and cooling performance
• Mentor junior engineers and field teams; manage plumbing disciplines on multi-phase capital projects
• Coordinate with facility operators, mechanical contractors, and design partners to optimize system performance and lifecycle costs
• Apply current industry standards and emerging data center plumbing technologies to project solutions

What We're Looking For

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in plumbing, mechanical, or civil engineering
• 7+ years of plumbing engineering experience; minimum 3 years in data center, server farm, or mission-critical facility design and operations
• Strong command of plumbing codes (IPC, IAPMO), NSF/ASME standards, and cooling system design principles
• Proficiency with CAD, BIM, and HVAC/plumbing modeling software
• Proven project and team leadership capabilities
• Excellent technical communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
