About the Role

The Chen Lab at St. Jude is seeking a talented postdoctoral researcher to contribute to groundbreaking studies in chemical biology and drug development. You'll work alongside experienced scientists to design, synthesize, and evaluate novel chemical compounds targeting key regulatory proteins in disease pathways. This role combines synthetic chemistry, molecular pharmacology, and translational research to advance therapeutic discovery for childhood diseases.

What You'll Do

• Design and characterize novel small-molecule inhibitors and degraders targeting nuclear receptors and cytochrome P450 enzymes
• Conduct biochemical and biophysical assays to evaluate compound efficacy and mechanism of action
• Perform cellular and molecular studies to validate chemical probes in relevant disease models
• Collaborate with team members across chemistry, biology, and computational disciplines to optimize lead compounds
• Analyze experimental data and contribute to manuscript preparation and scientific presentations
• Maintain detailed research records and comply with laboratory protocols and safety standards

What We're Looking For

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
• Strong background in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, or chemical biology
• Experience with biochemical assays, cell-based screening, or molecular biology techniques
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute complex research projects independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration and scientific dissemination
• Commitment to rigorous experimental practices and scientific integrity
