6-12 Co-Taught Vocal Music Teacher

Abilene Public Schools (USD 435) is seeking a Full-Time 6-12 Co-Taught Vocal Music Teacher in Abilene, Kansas. In this role, you'll deliver engaging vocal music instruction to middle and high school students in a collaborative co-taught setting that prioritizes inclusive education.

About the Role

As a 6-12 Co-Taught Vocal Music Teacher at Abilene USD 435, you'll teach vocal music, voice technique, music theory, and ensemble direction to students in grades 6-12. Working within a co-taught classroom model, you'll partner with special education professionals and general educators to ensure every student receives rigorous, accessible music instruction tailored to their individual learning needs.

What You'll Do

• Deliver vocal music instruction, including voice technique, ear training, and music theory to middle and high school students
• Direct and rehearse school choirs, vocal ensembles, and student musical productions
• Collaborate with co-teachers and special education staff to differentiate instruction and support students with diverse learning needs and abilities
• Design and implement inclusive, standards-aligned vocal music curriculum for grades 6-12
• Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction based on individual learning goals
• Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students are encouraged to participate and develop confidence in music
• Communicate student progress to families and collaborate with school staff on program planning
• Participate in school performances, vocal music concerts, and community music events

What We're Looking For

• Valid Kansas teaching certificate with vocal music, music education, or related endorsement (or demonstrated ability to obtain certification with appropriate endorsement)
• Strong belief that all students can learn and commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment
• Excellent attendance and punctuality record
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of vocal music pedagogy and best practices in co-teaching models
• Experience teaching or working with students of varying ability levels, learning styles, and backgrounds
• Passion for music education and student growth and development
