Firefighter/Paramedic-Part-Time

The City of Clive is seeking a dedicated Firefighter/Paramedic-Part-Time to join its emergency services team in Clive, Polk County.

About the Role

As a part‑time member of the Clive Fire Department, you will work under the guidance of department officers to deliver rapid medical response, fire suppression, and rescue services while ensuring equipment readiness and public safety.

What You'll Do

• Provide emergency medical treatment to patients experiencing illness or injury, adhering to established protocols and scope of practice.
• Respond to fire alarms and other hazardous situations, applying techniques to control and extinguish fires.
• Conduct search and rescue operations, including vehicle extrication and water rescue when needed.
• Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of firefighting apparatus, medical gear, and station equipment.
• Participate in ongoing training drills and professional development to maintain certifications and skill proficiency.
• Assist with fire prevention activities, public education events, and community outreach initiatives as assigned.
• Accurately document incident reports, patient care records, and equipment logs in accordance with department standards.

What We're Looking For

• Current State of Iowa EMT‑Paramedic certification and valid firefighter credentials (Firefighter I/II or equivalent).
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including lifting, climbing, and working in adverse conditions.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to teamwork in high‑stress environments.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; eligibility to operate emergency vehicles.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as part of a part‑time schedule.
• Previous experience in municipal fire/EMS services is preferred but not required for candidates who meet certification requirements.
