Senior Accountant

WorkBoard is hiring a Senior Accountant for its Redwood City, San Mateo County office.

About the Role

This full‑time position sits within the finance organization and plays a key role in delivering accurate, timely financial information that supports strategic decision‑making. The Senior Accountant will work closely with controllers, analysts, and business partners to ensure the integrity of the company’s books and to drive continuous improvement in accounting processes.

What You'll Do

• Lead the monthly and quarterly close, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare and review financial statements, variance analyses, and management reporting packages.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany balances.
• Assist with internal and external audit preparations, providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and implement controls that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Mentor junior accounting staff, sharing best practices and providing guidance on complex accounting topics.
• Collaborate with FP&A, tax, and treasury teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and tax provision activities.
• Stay current with accounting standards and regulatory changes, recommending adjustments as needed.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification preferred.
• Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a technology or SaaS environment.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial close processes, and internal control frameworks.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
• Excellent analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a track record of delivering accurate work under tight deadlines.
• Effective communication skills, capable of presenting financial information to non‑finance stakeholders.
• Proactive problem‑solver with a commitment to process improvement and continuous learning.
