Locator – Locate Services Division (Wausau WI )

Northern Lights & Jdh Contracting is hiring a full-time Locator for our Locate Services Division to help protect critical utility networks across northern Wisconsin. Join our team in Rib Mountain, Marathon County, where you'll play a vital role in keeping our region's infrastructure safe through professional utility locating and inspection services.

About the Role

As a Locator with Northern Lights & Jdh Contracting, you'll respond to utility locating requests from customers throughout our service area. This is hands-on field work that requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. You'll be responsible for accurately marking and locating underground utility lines while maintaining comprehensive documentation of your work.

What You'll Do

• Locate and mark underground utility lines including electric, gas, water, and telecommunications infrastructure
• Operate specialized locating equipment to detect and identify utility positions with precision
• Mark utility lines clearly and accurately using paint and flags to guide safe excavation
• Document all locating activities and maintain detailed records for each service call
• Respond to service requests promptly and work efficiently to meet customer timelines
• Follow all safety protocols and best practices in utility locating industry standards
• Communicate findings clearly to customers and coordinate with field crews

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work full-time in an outdoor, field-based position
• Physical capability to work on uneven terrain and lift equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Reliability and punctuality in meeting service commitments
• Willingness to learn industry-specific equipment and procedures
• Safety-focused mindset and adherence to protective protocols
