City Year
Join City Year as an Academic Tutor & Mentor in Brier, Snohomish County, and make a direct impact on student success. About the Role
As an Academic Tutor & Mentor, you'll serve as a consistent, supportive presence in students' lives—providing one-on-one and small-group academic support while mentoring them through both classroom and personal challenges. City Year AmeriCorps Members work within schools to help students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in their ability to succeed academically and beyond.
What You'll Do
- Deliver targeted academic tutoring and intervention across core subjects to help students master essential skills
- Build meaningful mentor relationships with assigned students, offering guidance and encouragement both in and out of the classroom
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align your support with classroom learning objectives
- Track student progress and adjust your approach based on individual needs and learning styles
- Support classroom management and school-wide initiatives that strengthen the educational environment
- Help students develop social-emotional skills, including resilience, goal-setting, and self-advocacy
