Medical Laboratory Scientist – Flow Cytometry MLS

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) specializing in Flow Cytometry to join our laboratory team in Kenner, Jefferson Parish. In this full-time position, you'll play a crucial role in cell analysis and hematologic diagnostics, supporting patient care through advanced flow cytometry techniques.

About the Role

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist - Flow Cytometry, you'll work in our clinical laboratory performing specialized cell analysis that helps physicians diagnose and treat patients with hematologic, immunologic, and oncologic conditions. This position combines technical expertise with precision analysis to generate accurate, timely laboratory results that directly impact patient outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Operate and maintain flow cytometry instruments, ensuring proper calibration and quality control
• Perform specimen analysis and cell characterization using established laboratory protocols
• Collect and process blood and body fluid samples according to clinical laboratory standards
• Analyze flow cytometry data and prepare comprehensive laboratory reports
• Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with laboratory accreditation requirements
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and participate in quality assurance programs
• Collaborate with pathologists and clinical teams to support diagnostic accuracy

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or related scientific discipline
• Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) through ASCP or equivalent
• Proficiency with flow cytometry instrumentation and data analysis software
• Strong understanding of hematology, immunology, and cell biology principles
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety standards
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a laboratory team
• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred
