About the Role

Ochsner Health System is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist with expertise in flow cytometry to join our clinical laboratory team. You'll play a vital role in generating accurate, timely laboratory results that directly impact patient care and treatment planning.

What You'll Do

  • Operate and maintain flow cytometry instrumentation, ensuring proper calibration, quality control, and compliance with clinical laboratory standards
  • Prepare and process biological specimens for flow cytometric analysis according to established protocols
  • Perform cell population analysis and interpret flow cytometry data for hematologic and immunologic testing
  • Execute pre-analytical and post-analytical procedures following CLIA and CAP standards
  • Document test results accurately and communicate findings to clinical staff and pathologists
  • Maintain comprehensive records and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with laboratory team members to ensure timely turnaround of patient results

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field
  • MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent medical laboratory scientist credential
  • Demonstrated experience or certification in flow cytometry analysis
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and bloodborne pathogen procedures
  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems and data management
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
