Family Law Paralegal

Mellin Robinson, P.C. is seeking a dedicated Family Law Paralegal to join our legal team in Troy, Oakland County. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide essential support to our family law practice while working directly with clients navigating some of life's most important legal matters.

About the Role

As a Family Law Paralegal at Mellin Robinson, P.C., you'll be the operational backbone of our family law department, managing cases from initial client intake through final resolution. You'll work alongside our attorneys to deliver comprehensive legal support in matters including divorce, custody disputes, spousal support, and other family law litigation. Your meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to protecting client confidentiality will be essential to your success.

What You'll Do

• Prepare, file, and serve legal documents, pleadings, and discovery materials in family law cases
• Conduct legal research and factual investigation to support attorney strategy and case development
• Maintain accurate case files, monitor filing deadlines, coordinate discovery, and track court schedules
• Communicate directly with clients to gather necessary information, provide case updates, and address concerns with professionalism and discretion
• Support trial preparation by organizing evidence, preparing witness summaries, and drafting trial memoranda
• Assist attorneys during depositions, settlement negotiations, and court proceedings
• Screen intake consultations and evaluate new client matters for our family law practice

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree in legal studies or paralegal studies; or completion of an accredited paralegal certification program
• Solid work experience in a law firm environment with demonstrated focus on family law cases
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent proofreading and editing ability
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines
• Outstanding client service skills paired with sound professional judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters
• Familiarity with legal research platforms and case management software
• Collaborative approach to supporting attorneys, clients, and team members
