About the Role
As the Middle School Theatre Teacher, you'll lead drama instruction and performance programs that develop student creativity, confidence, and collaborative skills. Reporting to the Principal, this is an exempt position designed to inspire young performers and foster a vibrant theatre culture across the school.
What You'll Do
- Design and teach theatre curriculum covering acting techniques, stagecraft, script analysis, and performance fundamentals
- Direct school theatre productions and manage rehearsals, technical elements, and student performances
- Create inclusive classroom experiences that welcome all students regardless of prior acting experience
- Assess student learning through performances, reflections, and creative projects aligned to standards
- Collaborate with colleagues and support school-wide events and assemblies
- Maintain safe, engaging learning spaces with appropriate classroom management and school policies
What We're Looking For
- Valid teaching certification or eligibility in theatre, drama, or performing arts at the secondary or middle school level
- Strong knowledge of theatrical pedagogy, directing techniques, and script selection for young audiences
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage productions and diverse student groups
- Passion for engaging middle school learners and building their confidence as performers and collaborators
- Experience creating engaging lesson plans and assessing student progress in creative disciplines
- Commitment to professional development and school community values
