About the Role
As a Cardiology Stepdown Registered Nurse at Mission Hospital, you'll provide expert nursing care to patients with cardiac conditions who are recovering and preparing for discharge. Working in our stepdown unit, you'll bridge the gap between intensive care and general medical-surgical floors, managing moderate to stable patients who still require specialized monitoring and intervention. This part-time position offers the flexibility to build your career while maintaining work-life balance in the Brevard area.
What You'll Do
- Monitor cardiac patients using advanced telemetry and clinical assessment skills
- Administer medications and IV therapies under physician direction
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and respond to cardiac arrhythmias
- Educate patients and families about cardiac conditions, medications, and discharge planning
- Collaborate with cardiologists, case management, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in our electronic health record system
- Support a culture of safety, quality, and compassionate patient-centered care
What We're Looking For
- Current RN licensure in North Carolina
- BScN or ADN from an accredited nursing program
- Strong clinical foundation in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing
- Knowledge of cardiac disease processes, medications, and monitoring
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to continuing education in cardiac nursing
