Johns Hopkins University seeks an experienced Scholarly Communications Librarian for The William H. Welch Medical Library in Baltimore, Maryland. In this full-time position, you'll advance scholarly publishing expertise across the academic health center, partnering with faculty, students, and researchers to navigate modern publishing practices and open access initiatives.
About the Role
As an information leader within the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing—and the broader Johns Hopkins Health System—you'll develop and implement scholarly communication strategies that support research dissemination, enhance research visibility, and align with contemporary publishing standards.
What You'll Do
- Partner with faculty and researchers to advance open access publishing and institutional repository practices
- Provide expert guidance on scholarly publishing, copyright compliance, and author rights
- Develop and manage workflows that streamline research dissemination and impact
- Educate students and scholars on emerging trends in academic publishing and research communication
- Build lasting relationships across medical, public health, and nursing departments to address evolving research needs
- Support institutional initiatives that increase research discoverability and impact
What We're Looking For
- Substantial experience in scholarly communications, publishing services, or academic library leadership
- Deep knowledge of open access movements, institutional repositories, and research data stewardship
- Proven ability to communicate complex publishing topics clearly to diverse audiences
- Strong collaborative skills and experience working within academic health systems
- Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or related field
