About the Role

As the Quality Management Specialist - Lab Administration at UTMB Health in Galveston County (Island), you will act as the central coordinator for quality assessment across every laboratory and phlebotomy site operating under the Department of Laboratory Services. This position partners with lab teams to uphold safe practices, sound documentation, and readiness for inspection at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate ongoing quality assessment activities throughout Laboratory Services and phlebotomy locations.
• Advance patient safety initiatives that reduce risk and strengthen the reliability of lab results.
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
• Support risk management efforts, identifying and helping resolve potential quality concerns.
• Promote a culture of laboratory safety across all in-scope sites.
• Provide guidance and support to staff to keep quality systems consistent and audit-ready.

Qualifications

• Background in clinical laboratory operations, quality management, or a closely related healthcare field.
• Working knowledge of laboratory regulatory and accreditation frameworks.
• Familiarity with patient safety, risk management, and laboratory safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and clear communication with diverse teams.
• Ability to work on-site full-time in Galveston, Texas.
