About the Role
As a Fall 2026 Cyber Security Co-Op in Lexington, Middlesex County, you will gain hands-on experience inside a working security operations center (SOC). You will support the team responsible for safeguarding the Laboratory's research environment, observing live network activity and contributing to the detection and removal of malicious threats targeting Lab systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with continuous monitoring of network traffic within the security operations center to surface suspicious or hostile activity.
- Help identify, investigate, and neutralize threats originating from malware, spear-phishing campaigns, and similar attacks.
- Support efforts to discover weaknesses across the current computing environment.
- Contribute to designing and developing countermeasures that reduce exposure to identified risks.
Qualifications
- An active U.S. government security clearance is required for this position.
- Enrollment in a cooperative education or degree program aligned with cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals, threat detection concepts, or vulnerability analysis is valuable.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
- Availability to work full-time on-site in Lexington, Massachusetts for the Fall 2026 term (this role is not remote).
