About the Role
As the Safety Manager, Institutional – Education (DSA) for our client, a long-established general contractor, you will own the safety program for K-12 and higher education building projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and neighboring regions. Based out of Santa Clara, this hands-on leadership position puts you at the center of every effort to keep crews, subcontractors, and the public protected on active education campuses. The offered compensation for this role ranges from $110,000 to $160,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the safety program across institutional education construction sites in the Bay Area, Sacramento, and surrounding areas.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to confirm compliance with DSA, Cal/OSHA, and federal regulations.
- Develop, deliver, and reinforce safety training, toolbox talks, and orientations for field teams and trade partners.
- Investigate incidents, document findings, and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Partner with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to embed safe practices into daily operations.
- Maintain accurate safety records, reporting, and documentation required for public education projects.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Construction Safety Manager or in a comparable safety leadership role within commercial or institutional construction.
- Familiarity with K-12 and higher education projects, including Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements, is highly valued.
- Strong working knowledge of Cal/OSHA standards and general contractor safety practices.
- Ability to travel to and manage safety across multiple active jobsites in Northern California.
- Excellent communication, training, and relationship-building skills with field crews and project leadership.
