Early Career Chemical Scientist

WSP is hiring an Early Career Chemical Scientist to join our Portland, Cumberland County team and support meaningful field-based environmental work across northern New England. About the Role

As an Early Career Chemical Scientist with WSP, you will be based out of our Portland, Maine office while contributing to an active, evolving project site that spans the Grafton County/Lebanon, New Hampshire area and the Windsor/Orange County, Vermont area. Because the work is closely tied to these project locations, candidates must live within the Grafton County/Lebanon, NH area or the Windsor/Orange County, VT area, or within a reasonable commuting distance. This is not a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

• Support ongoing project activities at the assigned site across the NH and VT project areas
• Assist senior scientists and project teams with chemical and environmental science tasks in the field and office
• Help collect, organize, and review project data to support technical deliverables
• Coordinate with WSP staff to ensure work aligns with project goals and quality standards
• Travel locally between the Portland office and the New Hampshire and Vermont project locations as needed

Qualifications

• Background or degree in chemistry, chemical science, environmental science, or a closely related discipline
• Interest in building an early-career path in applied chemical and environmental work
• Willingness to reside within the Grafton County/Lebanon, NH area or Windsor/Orange County, VT area, or within commuting range
• Ability to work on-site and reliably travel to project locations
• Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
