About the Role

As an Early Career Substation Electrical Engineer at WSP's San Diego office, you'll support the planning, design, and technical evaluation of electrical substations and related power systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll contribute to projects that range from feasibility assessments to detailed engineering deliverables, gaining hands-on experience in the power and energy sector.

What You'll Do

• Assist in the technical evaluation and analysis of substation infrastructure and power equipment
• Participate in site investigations, data collection, and due diligence activities for assigned projects
• Support the development of engineering studies and technical reports for utility and municipal clients
• Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Contribute to project teams focused on power systems, grid modernization, and infrastructure resilience
• Use engineering software and tools to model systems and prepare technical documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline
• Recent graduate or early-career professional with foundational knowledge of power systems and electrical engineering principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technical detail
• Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
