The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) invites applications for a UNIV - Post Doctoral Scholar - Pharmacology & Immunology to join the Mallah Laboratory in Charleston, Charleston County. This full-time, on-site postdoctoral role offers an exceptional opportunity to advance neuroimmunology research within a leading academic medical center.

About the Role

As a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Mallah Laboratory, you will contribute to active investigations into immune activation and neuroimmune interactions that arise following traumatic brain injury (TBI). The lab uses experimental mouse models alongside microscopy and cellular and molecular immunology approaches to uncover how the immune system responds to brain injury. We are looking for a driven, meticulous scientist eager to grow within a collaborative pharmacology and immunology research environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out neuroimmunology-focused experiments using established mouse models of traumatic brain injury.
  • Apply microscopy and cellular and molecular immunology techniques to study immune activation and neuroimmune signaling.
  • Design, troubleshoot, and refine experimental protocols with precision and consistency.
  • Analyze, interpret, and accurately document research data and findings.
  • Support ongoing laboratory projects and collaborate with fellow researchers in the lab.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in pharmacology, immunology, neuroscience, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong motivation, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality research.
  • Hands-on experience with experimental mouse models is highly valuable.
  • Familiarity with microscopy and cellular or molecular immunology methods.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team.
