About the Role
As a Teacher of Science for the 2026-27 school year, you'll design and deliver engaging science instruction that meets New Jersey State Standards and prepares students for academic success. You'll work within our Newark Board of Education school system to create an inclusive, inquiry-based learning environment where students develop critical thinking and scientific literacy.
What You'll Do
- Plan, deliver, and assess science lessons aligned to grade-level standards and district curriculum
- Create inclusive, equitable classroom environments that support diverse learners and learning styles
- Facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based science activities and laboratory work
- Assess student understanding through formative and summative assessments, providing meaningful feedback
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress and engagement
- Collaborate with grade-level and department colleagues to ensure instructional coherence
- Participate in professional development and contribute to school improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of student achievement
What We're Looking For
- Valid New Jersey teacher certification in Science or related discipline
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Experience teaching science at your target grade level (elementary, middle, or high school)
- Knowledge of New Jersey State Standards for Science
- Strong classroom management skills and commitment to student success
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support learners with varying needs
- Professional dedication to continuous improvement and student-centered education
