Tax Accountant

Pyramid, Inc is seeking a Tax Accountant to join its team in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County.

About the Role

This is a six‑month contract position with the possibility of long‑term extension. The role is based on‑site in Milwaukee, WI, and offers a competitive hourly rate of $33‑$37 along with benefits that include medical, dental, vision insurance and a 401(k) plan.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations while identifying opportunities for tax savings.
• Conduct tax research and stay updated on legislative changes that impact clients.
• Assist with tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Maintain accurate tax records and documentation in accordance with firm policies.
• Support senior tax professionals with special projects and advisory engagements.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience preparing tax returns for individuals or businesses.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes and familiarity with tax preparation software.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• CPA progress or certification is a plus but not required.
