The Opportunity

As a Staff Bioinformatics Software Engineer at CooperCompanies, you'll take a leadership role in designing and building scalable software solutions that power our surgical and life sciences businesses. This is a full-time position on the Cooper Surgical R&D Software team, where you'll own the technical vision for bioinformatics systems serving clinical and research needs at scale.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust bioinformatics software applications supporting our Life Sciences product lines
• Lead architecture decisions and mentor junior engineers on best practices in scientific software development
• Collaborate with research, product, and clinical teams to translate scientific requirements into software specifications
• Drive innovation in our digital capabilities and oversee continuous improvement of existing systems
• Ensure code quality, performance, and security across the bioinformatics platform

What You Bring

• Deep expertise in bioinformatics software development and computational biology workflows
• Proven track record designing and deploying production-grade scientific software systems
• Strong background in software engineering fundamentals: architecture, testing, deployment, and maintenance
• Ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders in a regulated, compliance-focused environment
• Leadership experience and comfort mentoring engineers in technical excellence
