About the Role
As an Equity Research Associate – Biotechnology at Piper Sandler & Co., you will work alongside senior analysts to evaluate publicly traded biotech and life sciences companies. Based in Boston, this on-site position blends financial analysis, scientific curiosity, and clear communication to produce research that informs institutional investor decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, valuation frameworks, and earnings estimates for biotechnology companies under coverage.
- Track clinical trial milestones, regulatory developments, and pipeline catalysts that influence equity performance.
- Draft research notes, initiation reports, and industry commentary in partnership with the lead analyst.
- Conduct primary and secondary research, including channel checks, scientific literature review, and competitive analysis.
- Respond to inquiries from institutional clients and internal sales and trading teams with timely, well-supported insights.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, life sciences, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel.
- Genuine interest in the biotechnology and healthcare sectors and the science behind drug development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
