Sr Consultant, Underwriting Practice – Middle Market (Agribusiness)

Nationwide is hiring a Senior Consultant in Underwriting Practice specializing in Middle Market Agribusiness coverage. This full-time role is based in Multiple locations, offering the opportunity to drive underwriting excellence across a critical commercial insurance segment.

Role Overview

As a Senior Consultant in the Underwriting Practice focused on Middle Market Agribusiness, you will be a trusted expert who shapes underwriting strategy, develops deep industry knowledge, and delivers actionable guidance to underwriting teams across Nationwide's commercial insurance operations. This position combines technical expertise with thought leadership, enabling you to influence underwriting approaches for a diverse portfolio of agricultural enterprises, farm operations, and related agribusiness ventures serving middle-market clients.

What You'll Do

• Lead underwriting strategy development and refinement for middle-market agribusiness accounts, including row-crop farming, livestock operations, agricultural equipment dealers, and value-added agricultural enterprises
• Provide expert consultation to underwriting teams on complex risk assessment, coverage design, and pricing strategies for agricultural clients
• Analyze emerging trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics affecting agribusiness underwriting and communicate findings to stakeholders
• Partner with underwriters and product teams to strengthen underwriting guidelines, improve risk selection, and enhance customer value
• Build and maintain deep industry knowledge of agribusiness operations, exposures, and best practices in risk management
• Support training initiatives and develop underwriting resources that elevate team capability across the practice

Qualifications

• Significant experience in commercial insurance underwriting, with demonstrated expertise in agricultural or agribusiness risk
• Strong understanding of middle-market agricultural operations and the underwriting challenges they present
• Advanced knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment methodologies, and commercial insurance products
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
• Proven ability to develop strategy and implement solutions in a fast-moving commercial insurance environment
