About the Role

This role is part-time and based in South Launceston, Tasmania. As a Student Wellbeing Officer at SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY/Relationships Australia Tasmania (RA Tas), you will play a crucial part in supporting young people's mental health and wellbeing. The position involves working with students to address emotional, social, and behavioral issues that may affect their academic performance and overall development.

• Conduct one-on-one and group sessions to provide support and guidance
• Develop and implement programs aimed at promoting mental health awareness among students
• Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create a supportive environment for students
• Assist in the identification of students who may be experiencing difficulties and refer them to appropriate services when necessary

Key Responsibilities

The role requires a compassionate and empathetic approach towards young people. You will be responsible for:

• Building rapport with students to establish trust and open communication channels
• Providing evidence-based interventions and support strategies tailored to individual needs
• Maintaining accurate records of sessions and progress reports
• Participating in regular team meetings and professional development activities

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A relevant tertiary qualification in psychology, social work, or a related field (e.g., counselling)
• Proven experience working with young people and addressing their mental health needs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• A commitment to confidentiality and privacy standards
