About the Role
As a Shelter Specialist with Mercy House in Bakersfield, you will provide direct supportive services and day-to-day logistical assistance to keep the Emergency Shelter Program running smoothly during your assigned shifts. This is a part-time, non-exempt position paying $20.50 per hour, with a schedule of Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday plus Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer supportive services to shelter guests with patience, dignity, and respect
- Assist with the setup and preparation of the shelter ahead of each shift
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the facility
- Provide logistical support to ensure smooth operations during designated shifts
- Collaborate with program staff to meet the immediate needs of individuals served

- Reliability and availability to work the scheduled weekend and weekday shifts
