Senior Civil Designer (Grading & Utility) – Data Center

Join Olsson as a Senior Civil Designer specializing in Grading & Utility design for data center projects in Highland Park, Dallas. We're seeking a skilled civil engineering professional to lead the design and development of critical infrastructure solutions that power the digital world.

Position Summary

This is a full-time position where you'll drive the civil design of grading and utility systems for large-scale data center developments. You'll work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to create efficient, compliant, and constructible designs that meet the demanding standards of modern data center infrastructure. Your expertise in site grading, stormwater management, utility coordination, and construction documentation will be essential to project success from concept through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop grading plans, drainage systems, and site civil infrastructure for data center projects
• Coordinate utility systems including water, electrical, telecommunications, and sanitary/storm sewer networks
• Prepare detailed civil design drawings, specifications, and construction documents using industry-standard software
• Conduct site analysis and feasibility studies to support design decisions
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to integrate civil systems with overall project scope
• Ensure designs comply with local codes, regulations, and utility standards specific to the Dallas area and data center requirements
• Review and respond to contractor and utility company feedback during design and construction phases
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to design innovation and process improvements

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; PE license preferred
• 5+ years of professional civil design experience, with demonstrated expertise in grading and utility design
• Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and relevant civil design software
• Strong knowledge of stormwater management, site drainage, and utility coordination principles
• Experience with data center, industrial, or large commercial projects highly valued
• Familiarity with Dallas-area codes, permitting processes, and local utility requirements
• Excellent communication and project management skills
• Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional design teams
