About the Role
You'll join a dedicated practice group at an Am Law 100 firm, working directly with clients and colleagues to navigate municipal regulations, zoning boards, and permitting processes. This role offers the chance to build your expertise in Boston's real estate market while managing your own client relationships and handling substantive legal matters from inception to resolution.
What You'll Do
- Counsel clients on zoning compliance, variance applications, and special permit proceedings before Boston municipal boards
- Prepare and review land use applications, site plans, and regulatory filings
- Represent clients in negotiations with planning departments and other regulatory agencies
- Draft legal opinions and advise on land use implications for real estate transactions and development projects
- Manage relationships with architects, engineers, municipal officials, and other stakeholders
- Build a client base and contribute to the firm's Boston real estate practice
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 7 years of demonstrated experience in zoning, land use, or real estate law
- Proven track record handling zoning matters in Massachusetts or comparable jurisdictions
- Strong knowledge of Boston zoning ordinances, planning processes, and municipal procedures
- Excellent writing, research, and client communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple client matters and deadlines independently
- Bar admission in Massachusetts or ability to obtain it
