About This School Health Position
As a per diem RN with Ro Health, you'll provide critical 1:1 direct care for students with tracheostomy and ventilator dependence in public schools across the Dallas area. This position typically involves 1–2 days per week, with consistent Monday–Friday scheduling from 7:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. during the school day.
Your Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized 1:1 nursing care for students with tracheostomy and ventilator needs
- Perform tracheostomy care, maintenance, and site management
- Monitor ventilator function and respond to alarms and technical issues
- Assess and maintain the student's respiratory and overall health status throughout the school day
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the student's physician
- Communicate with school staff, parents, and physicians regarding the student's condition and care needs
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and ensure appropriate clinical interventions
- Maintain comprehensive medical records and nursing documentation in accordance with school protocols
- Collaborate with special education staff to support student development and participation in school activities
What We're Looking For
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Demonstrable experience caring for patients with tracheostomy and ventilator dependence
- Background in pediatric nursing or specialized pediatric patient care
- Knowledge of emergency protocols and airway management principles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Adaptability and comfort working in a school environment with medically complex children
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Compassion and commitment to supporting students with specialized healthcare needs
