Mr. Air NYC at a glance
mrairnyc.comJoin Mr. Air NYC as a full-time Residential Comfort Advisor and In-Home Building Science Consultant in Brooklyn, New York City. We're seeking a thoughtful professional to diagnose and solve comfort challenges in New York's most distinctive homes—brownstones, townhomes, and historic properties—by combining HVAC expertise with rigorous building science.
About the Role
As our Residential Comfort Advisor, you'll be the expert homeowners and contractors call when something isn't working right. You'll conduct on-site building science assessments, identify root causes of comfort and performance issues, and design solutions that address the actual problem—not just the symptom. This is hands-on diagnostic work paired with client education and system design.
What You'll Do
- Perform comprehensive in-home energy audits and HVAC diagnostics using advanced testing equipment
- Analyze airflow, moisture, thermal performance, and mechanical system efficiency in residential settings
- Consult with homeowners and contractors to translate technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations
- Design and specify high-performance heating, cooling, and ventilation systems tailored to each property
- Educate clients on building science principles and the long-term benefits of engineered comfort solutions
- Collaborate with installation teams to ensure specifications are executed properly in the field
What We're Looking For
- Deep knowledge of HVAC systems, building science, and residential comfort (heating, cooling, ventilation, moisture control)
- Experience conducting energy audits or building science assessments in residential properties
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment (ductwork testers, blower doors, thermal imaging, etc.)
- Strong communication skills—able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical homeowners
- Problem-solving mindset and comfort working independently on client sites
- Familiarity with older construction, historic properties, or unusual home configurations is a plus
