About the Role

As a Research Associate 5, you'll serve as a key researcher within our energy law program, conducting in-depth legal and policy research on issues shaping the energy industry. This position combines independent research capability with collaboration on larger institutional initiatives, positioning you at the intersection of academic scholarship and real-world energy policy challenges.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on energy law topics, including renewable energy regulation, fossil fuel policy, grid modernization, and environmental compliance frameworks
  • Support faculty members and research teams with literature reviews, case law analysis, statutory interpretation, and regulatory documentation
  • Synthesize complex legal materials into research briefs, white papers, and policy analyses
  • Track and analyze legislative developments, regulatory changes, and court decisions affecting the energy sector
  • Participate in research projects and contribute to publications advancing the university's energy law scholarship
  • Manage research databases, documentation systems, and project resources
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, government agencies, and industry partners as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree; law degree (JD) or equivalent advanced legal training preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in legal research, policy analysis, or related research fields
  • Strong analytical and writing skills with ability to synthesize complex information clearly
  • Knowledge of energy law, environmental law, or regulatory law is valuable
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis, government resources)
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team
