Build the skills for this role

Build strength in blueprint interpretation, elemental and unit-rate estimating, cost tracking vs bids, and commercial negotiation with contractors and clients. Practice structured tendering and clear change-order documentation; no certification list is supplied for this role family.

Be ready to walk through how you build an estimate from drawings, re-price a variation, and explain a cost overrun to project leads. Expect scenarios on tender strategy, subcontractor negotiations, and how you use historical cost data. Tie answers to construction delivery in Singapore (nationwide) where possible.

Strong fit if you enjoy detail-heavy commercial work on live builds, calm negotiation, and holding costs to the bid. Best for candidates comfortable with drawings, numbers, and multi-party coordination rather than pure site supervision.
