Quality Engineer (II/III)

About the Role

As a Quality Engineer (II/III) with Materion in Elmore, OH, you will serve as a key technical contributor focused on elevating product and process quality. The position balances hands-on problem solving with cross-functional influence, allowing you to shape quality standards that support reliable manufacturing outcomes. You will operate with increasing autonomy typical of a level II/III engineer while partnering closely with production, engineering, and operations teams to maintain high performance across the site.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead root-cause investigations and implement lasting corrective and preventive actions for quality issues
• Design, refine, and monitor quality control plans, inspection methods, and process validation activities
• Apply statistical process control and data analysis tools to identify trends and improve yield and consistency
• Conduct internal process and product audits and support external audit readiness
• Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to incorporate quality requirements into new and existing processes
• Review and approve nonconforming material dispositions and drive supplier quality improvements as needed
• Document procedures, train operators and technicians on quality expectations, and track key performance metrics

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or a closely related technical field
• Several years of progressive quality engineering experience, ideally at the quality engineer II or III level
• Solid working knowledge of quality management systems, problem-solving methodologies such as DMAIC or 8D, and core tools including FMEA, control plans, and process capability analysis
• Proficiency with statistical software and the ability to translate data into actionable process improvements
• Strong communication skills for influencing cross-functional teams and presenting technical findings
• Hands-on experience with measurement systems, inspection techniques, and lean manufacturing principles
• Ability to work independently on complex assignments while supporting team goals in a full-time on-site role in Elmore, OH
