Project Manager – Power Generation Job Details

Black & Veatch is hiring a Project Manager for our Power Generation division, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Cary, North Carolina; or Jacksonville, Florida. This is a full-time role leading the planning, execution, and delivery of critical infrastructure projects that power American homes and businesses.

About the Role

As a Project Manager in Power Generation, you'll oversee complex projects from conception through completion, managing budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams. You'll serve as the primary point of contact between our clients, engineering teams, and construction partners, ensuring every project meets technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.

What You'll Do

• Plan and schedule project phases, resource allocation, and budget management for power generation construction and upgrade initiatives
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to maintain project momentum and compliance
• Monitor project progress against key performance indicators and adjust plans to address risks and delays
• Lead stakeholder meetings and provide transparent progress updates to clients and internal leadership
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards throughout project delivery
• Manage project documentation, contracts, and change orders with accuracy and attention to detail
• Support technical decision-making by collaborating with engineering teams on system design and implementation

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of project management experience in power generation, utilities, or heavy industrial construction
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple stakeholders in high-stakes environments
• Strong knowledge of power generation technologies and project delivery methodologies
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent credentials preferred
• Excellent planning, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, or related field
