Black & Veatch seeks an experienced Extra High Voltage Overhead Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager to lead mission-critical infrastructure projects from Phoenix, Arizona. In this full-time role, you'll direct large-scale EHV transmission line development and oversee engineering teams delivering reliable power infrastructure that connects communities across the nation.

Position Summary

As a project engineering manager, you will direct the planning, design, and construction of extra high voltage overhead transmission line projects from conception through energization. Your leadership will coordinate between clients, regulatory agencies, engineering teams, and field operations to deliver complex transmission infrastructure that meets rigorous industry standards. You'll manage schedules and budgets while ensuring technical excellence, safety compliance, and on-time delivery of critical utility assets.

Responsibilities

• Lead all project phases including pre-engineering, design, permitting, construction, and commissioning of EHV transmission lines
• Manage project engineering teams, allocate resources, maintain budgets, and track progress against established timelines
• Conduct technical reviews, validate engineering designs against specifications, and ensure compliance with industry standards and codes
• Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, permitting authorities, and field teams to address requirements and resolve technical challenges
• Enforce safety protocols, environmental regulations, and NERC/NESC compliance across all project activities
• Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and drive corrective actions to maintain project performance

What You Bring

• Professional Engineering (PE) license in electrical engineering or related power systems discipline
• Significant hands-on experience managing utility-scale transmission projects or comparable infrastructure programs
• Expert-level knowledge of high-voltage transmission line design, materials, construction, and industry standards
• Proven ability to lead diverse engineering teams and manage complex, multi-million-dollar projects
• Strong client management and stakeholder communication skills
• Proficiency with project controls software and engineering design tools
