About the Role

The Gong Lab at Penn State is seeking a talented postdoctoral scholar to conduct independent and collaborative research at the intersection of environmental health and geospatial data science. You'll work alongside faculty and research team members to investigate pressing environmental health questions using advanced spatial analysis techniques, data modeling, and computational methods.

What You'll Do

  • Design and execute research projects involving geospatial data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Develop and apply geospatial and statistical models to address environmental health research questions
  • Analyze large datasets using specialized software tools and programming languages
  • Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams and contribute to grant writing efforts
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students as appropriate
  • Participate in lab meetings, seminars, and professional development activities

What We're Looking For

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in environmental health, environmental science, geospatial science, public health, or related field
  • Strong background in geospatial data analysis and GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms)
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and programming languages (R, Python, or similar)
  • Experience conducting environmental or public health research
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
