Physical Education/Health Teacher (.93 FTE)

Mounds View Public Schools invites qualified educators to join our team as a Physical Education and Health Teacher at the secondary level, serving students in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. This is a part-time teaching position starting August 31, 2026.

About the Role

We're seeking an accomplished Physical Education and Health educator to inspire secondary students through engaging instruction in fitness, wellness, health literacy, and athletic skill development. In this role, you'll design and deliver comprehensive curriculum that promotes lifelong healthy habits, physical competency, and informed decision-making. Working across multiple school sites within our district, you'll reach students during a critical developmental stage and create inclusive learning environments where all students can succeed.

What You'll Do

• Teach Physical Education and Health courses aligned with Minnesota state standards and district curriculum
• Develop engaging lesson plans that integrate fitness concepts, skill-building activities, and evidence-based health education content
• Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments that measure both skill development and health knowledge
• Create inclusive classroom environments that encourage active participation from all students regardless of fitness level or background
• Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary learning experiences connecting health education to science, social-emotional wellness, and community health topics
• Support school athletic programs, fitness initiatives, and student activities as a member of the school community

What We're Looking For

• Valid Minnesota teaching license in Physical Education and/or Health Education, or ability to obtain licensure
• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related discipline
• Strong foundation in exercise physiology, fitness assessment, and contemporary health education practices
• Demonstrated skill in managing diverse secondary classrooms and engaging young people in active learning
• Experience differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners
• Commitment to fostering equitable, safe, and inclusive learning spaces for every student

Position Details

This position is allocated at 0.93 FTE across multiple school locations within Mounds View Public Schools, with 186 contracted duty days annually. District professional development is required prior to the school year start date of August 31, 2026.
