Payroll And Benefits Specialist

Aston Carter is hiring a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our Minneapolis office and support our growing team. In this full-time position, you'll manage critical payroll and benefits functions while ensuring compliance and providing expert support to our branch offices.

About the Role

As our Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you'll play a key role in administering compensation structures, managing employee benefits programs, and ensuring all payroll processes run smoothly. This position serves as a trusted resource for colleagues across our branches who handle payroll responsibilities day-to-day.

What You'll Do

• Administer payroll operations, including processing and verification of weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles
• Manage benefit plans and coordinate open enrollment processes to ensure employees have clear coverage options
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource for payroll specialists and HR team members in our branch offices
• Conduct background checks and verify employee eligibility and onboarding documentation
• Maintain, update, and improve our Benefits Guide and Company Handbook to reflect current policies and regulations
• Monitor payroll and employment regulations to ensure our practices remain compliant with federal, state, and local requirements
• Respond to employee questions about benefits, compensation, and payroll-related matters

What We're Looking For

• Proficiency in payroll processing and benefits administration systems
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax withholding, and employment regulations
• Experience with open enrollment administration and benefits communication
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate payroll records
• Customer service mindset and ability to explain complex benefits topics clearly to employees
• Ability to work independently while supporting multiple branches and team members
