Fora, the modern travel advisory platform transforming the $100B+ travel industry, is hiring a Director of Sales to build and lead its outbound sales organization in New York City. This full-time, in-office position reports to the Chief Marketing & GTM Officer and offers the rare opportunity to establish a new sales motion from scratch at a well-funded, fast-growing company.

Role Overview

You'll architect and scale Fora's outbound sales engine starting with no existing playbook, team, or precedent. This role demands an entrepreneurial leader who thrives on creating repeatable processes, developing quota-carrying teams, and driving measurable GMV growth. You'll inherit an inbound sales organization while building the outbound motion that powers Fora's next growth phase. The work combines strategic design—compensation frameworks, quota models, hiring plans—with hands-on execution: testing prospecting channels, coaching reps daily, and refining the playbook based on what actually works.

Your Responsibilities

  • Build the complete outbound sales motion from scratch, including prospecting strategy, process design, metrics, and operating cadences
  • Develop a hiring plan for Account Executives and BDRs, structured around business goals and quota targets
  • Recruit and mentor the first outbound AE team, establishing a high-performance culture rooted in accountability
  • Coach new AEs and existing BDRs through structured call reviews, skill curricula, ramp plans, and feedback loops
  • Design compensation structures and quota frameworks that drive GMV growth and align with company economics
  • Test outbound channels, messaging, and lead-working approaches to identify what converts, then codify into the playbook
  • Partner with RevOps to build funnel reporting and activity metrics for a brand-new motion
  • Collaborate with Marketing and cross-functional teams to build a repeatable engine for qualified pipeline
  • Establish Fora as a destination for top sales talent through culture and leadership excellence

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience establishing and developing outbound sales teams at rapidly growing, revenue-focused organizations (GMV or marketplace revenue preferred)
  • Expertise in designing compensation plans, quota models, and ramp structures that directly impact revenue outcomes
  • Hands-on track record recruiting and coaching quota-bearing Account Executives into top performers
  • Demonstrated ability to build sales motions without existing frameworks or benchmarks to guide you
  • Experience collaborating with Sales Operations and building reporting infrastructure, metrics, and cadences for nascent sales programs
  • Background selling to or managing sales targeting small and medium-sized businesses in transactional or high-volume contexts
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and execution capabilities in rapidly evolving, uncertain environments
  • Located in or able to relocate to New York City with commitment to regular in-office presence
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Preferred: Experience at scaling technology companies with SMB customer bases
  • Preferred: Experience evolving a sales organization from inbound-dominant to integrated outbound operations
  • Preferred: Experience creating lead qualification or scoring frameworks
  • Preferred: Demonstrated success building a sales organization's reputation and culture to attract elite talent
