About the Role
As a member of the MSU microbiology and cell biology instructional faculty, you will deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate coursework in a dynamic research-intensive environment. These positions support the department's core educational mission across on-campus sections and, where applicable, online delivery formats.
What You'll Do
- Teach assigned on-campus and/or online courses in microbiology, cell biology, or related life sciences disciplines
- Advise, mentor, and evaluate students to support academic success and retention
- Contribute to curriculum design and course development aligned with departmental learning outcomes
- Attend and participate in weekly faculty meetings and departmental activities
- Collaborate with and evaluate assigned peer leaders or undergraduate teaching assistants when applicable
- Maintain accurate student records including grades, attendance, and academic progress documentation
- Hold regular office hours and remain accessible to students throughout the term
What We're Looking For
- Graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred) in microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated ability or potential to teach effectively at the college level
- Strong communication skills and a student-centered instructional approach
- Ability to work collaboratively within a departmental faculty team
- Experience with or willingness to develop online course delivery
- Physical ability to perform the essential functions of classroom and laboratory instruction
