About the Role

As the Graduate Student Academic Coordinator at Montana State University, you will serve as the operational backbone of the department's graduate programs in Bozeman, Gallatin County. This on-site position keeps graduate education running smoothly across six distinct discipline areas, ensuring students, faculty, and university leadership stay aligned with institutional standards and the requirements of the Graduate School.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate graduate student programs spanning the department's six discipline areas, including Astrophysics, Biophysics, Condensed Matter, Physics Education, Optical and Quantum Systems, Gravity, Solar Physics, and Space Physics.
• Administer department- and university-level policies and procedures, working closely with the Graduate School to keep them current and consistently applied.
• Support graduate students throughout their academic journey by helping them navigate program milestones, deadlines, and degree requirements.
• Serve as a central point of contact between graduate students, faculty, and administrative offices.
• Maintain accurate program records and assist with reporting tied to graduate student progress and compliance.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and competing priorities at once.
• Familiarity with academic policies, procedures, and graduate program operations within a university setting.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across students, faculty, and institutional offices.
• Attention to detail and the ability to apply established guidelines consistently and accurately.
• Comfort working on-site in Bozeman, Gallatin County, as this is not a remote role.
