Mechanical Design Engineer – Cockpit & Trim

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on Cockpit & Trim systems, you'll play a critical role in creating the interior experience of Rivian's groundbreaking electric vehicles. This position combines mechanical design expertise with the challenge of engineering for next-generation EV platforms. You'll work on everything from dashboard assemblies to trim components, ensuring each element meets our standards for durability, aesthetics, and manufacturability.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and develop cockpit and trim components using advanced CAD software and engineering best practices
• Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing and assembly
• Collaborate with product design, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize component performance
• Conduct engineering analysis and validation testing to ensure components meet safety and durability requirements
• Evaluate manufacturing processes and material selections to balance cost, quality, and sustainability
• Iterate on designs based on testing results, feedback, and production learnings

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline
• Proficiency with CAD software such as Solidworks, CATIA, or equivalent platforms
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection molding, assembly techniques, and material properties
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
• Experience in automotive design or consumer product development is highly valued
