Managing Director, Institutional Sales (CMBS)

Mesirow, an independent, employee-owned financial services firm, seeks a Managing Director to lead Institutional Sales for commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) from our Grand Central, Manhattan office. This is a full-time position ideal for a seasoned sales leader with deep expertise in institutional capital markets and a track record of building and maintaining premier client relationships across the CMBS space.

About the Role

As Managing Director of Institutional Sales (CMBS), you will drive revenue growth and client expansion across our institutional investor base while managing a dynamic sales team. You will serve as a strategic voice in the firm's CMBS business, leveraging your market knowledge to position Mesirow as a trusted advisor and dealer in this sector. Your responsibilities span client origination, portfolio solutions, market analysis, and operational oversight of your sales group.

What You'll Do

• Build and nurture relationships with institutional investors, fund managers, and asset owners in the CMBS market
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand Mesirow's institutional client base and trading volume
• Lead your sales team to exceed revenue targets while maintaining the highest standards of client service and compliance
• Develop customized investment solutions and capital markets strategies tailored to client objectives
• Stay current on CMBS market trends, credit dynamics, regulatory developments, and competitive positioning
• Collaborate with trading, research, and risk management teams to deliver comprehensive institutional solutions
• Manage client portfolios and oversee ongoing account performance and communication

What We're Looking For

• Proven success as a sales leader in institutional CMBS, fixed income, or related capital markets roles
• Established network and credibility within the institutional investor and CMBS dealership community
• Strong understanding of CMBS underwriting, credit analysis, and secondary market dynamics
• Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate sales teams and achieve consistent revenue growth
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with institutional stakeholders
• Knowledge of securities regulations and institutional sales compliance requirements
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; Series 7 and 63 licenses preferred
