Attorney – Education Employment Labor Law

McDougal Boehmer Foley Lyon Mitchell & Erickson is hiring a full-time Attorney specializing in Education Employment and Labor Law for our Chula Vista office in San Diego County. This is a hands-on legal role for an experienced attorney ready to advise education systems, public entities, and organizations navigating complex employment and labor compliance matters.

Role Overview

Join our legal team as an Attorney – Education Employment and Labor Law professional. You'll provide strategic counsel on regulatory compliance, employee relations, and litigation matters affecting K-12 districts, higher education institutions, and public agencies throughout San Diego County. This full-time position combines advisory work with active case management, serving clients who rely on sound employment law guidance to navigate California's evolving regulatory landscape and protect their institutional interests.

What You'll Do

• Counsel education and public entity clients on employment policy, union negotiations, and labor law compliance
• Draft and review employment contracts, handbooks, policies, and legal opinions
• Represent clients in administrative proceedings, grievances, and labor disputes
• Manage civil litigation files from intake through resolution or trial
• Stay current with federal and state education law, employment statutes, and regulatory changes
• Collaborate with colleagues on complex multi-party employment matters

Who We're Looking For

• 3–7 years of legal experience in education law, employment law, labor relations, or civil litigation
• Strong academic foundation with excellent legal writing and research skills
• Proven communication ability—both written and oral—when working with clients and opposing counsel
• Capacity to manage multiple matters simultaneously while maintaining quality and attention to detail
• Initiative to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Admitted to practice in California
