Kitchen Designer

About This Position

This full-time Kitchen Designer position places you at the heart of our design department, partnering directly with homeowners and contractors to create functional, stylish spaces. You'll leverage design software, product knowledge, and showroom resources to guide customers through every phase of their project—from initial concept to final recommendations.

Core Duties

• Welcome and build rapport with customers exploring kitchen and bathroom design options
• Understand customer needs, preferences, and budgets through attentive consultation
• Develop design solutions using The Home Depot's digital design tools and showroom displays
• Present tiered product recommendations—good, better, and best options—to fit various customer priorities and budgets
• Provide expert guidance on product features, materials, installation methods, and industry best practices
• Prepare design samples and materials for customers to review and take home
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate specifications and smooth project handoff
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of The Home Depot's kitchen and bath product inventory

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Demonstrated design sense and an eye for aesthetics
• Strong communication and active listening skills
• Ability to understand and translate customer preferences into practical designs
• Comfort with design software and digital tools (training provided)
• Customer service experience or a track record of building positive relationships
• Knowledge of kitchen and bath products, materials, and installation methods, or willingness to develop this expertise
• Ability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends
