Atchison Public Schools seeks a full-time Itinerant Secondary Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position serves grades 9–12, rotating between Atchison High School and Central School, and provides dedicated instruction to secondary students across two Atchison campuses.

About the Role

As an itinerant secondary social studies educator, you will deliver instruction across both Atchison High School and Central School, bringing consistent curriculum and mentorship to grades 9 through 12 throughout the district. This full-time teaching position combines the professional stability of a permanent role with the opportunity to impact students across multiple school environments within Atchison Public Schools.

What You'll Do

• Teach secondary social studies courses to grades 9–12 students across Atchison High School and Central School
• Design and deliver standards-aligned curriculum that prepares students for academic and civic success
• Use formative and summative assessments to measure student learning and adjust instruction accordingly
• Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to support student development and achievement
• Maintain instructional records, lesson plans, and grading documentation
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited, regionally recognized institution
• Current Kansas teaching license in social studies or secondary education, or eligibility to obtain one before the 2026-2027 school year begins
• Strong knowledge of secondary social studies content and instructional best practices
• Ability to engage and motivate students of varying ability levels and learning styles
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills for managing schedules across multiple school sites
• Commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and student-centered education
