About the Role

As part of the manufacturing team, the Injection Mold Set Up Technician works under the direction of a group leader to prepare, run, and maintain injection molding equipment. The position ensures that molds are correctly installed, machines are tuned for optimal performance, and produced parts meet quality standards before full‑scale production begins.

What You'll Do

• Set up and install molds on injection molding presses according to work orders and engineering specifications.
• Operate molding machines, monitor cycle times, and adjust parameters to achieve consistent part quality.
• Perform first‑piece inspections, verify dimensions, and document results to confirm proper setup.
• Carry out trimming, drilling, deburring, and other secondary processing operations as required.
• Conduct routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance on molding equipment and auxiliary tools.
• Assist in troubleshooting machine faults, part defects, and mold issues, implementing corrective actions promptly.
• Maintain a safe work area by following lockout/tagout procedures, wearing required PPE, and keeping the floor free of debris.
• Record production data, maintenance activities, and inspection results in logs or shop‑floor systems.
• Collaborate with operators, quality technicians, and maintenance staff to support continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience setting up and running injection molding machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of mold components, clamping forces, temperature controls, and material handling.
• Ability to read work orders, schematics, and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Skill in performing basic machine adjustments, including pressure, speed, and cooling settings.
• Familiarity with trimming, drilling, and other post‑molding processes commonly used for thermoplastic parts.
• Mechanical aptitude for conducting routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on presses and auxiliaries.
• Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and attendance reliability on assigned 2nd or 3rd shift schedules.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is a plus.
